Often we
are asked what the diffence is between Pinebrook and other facilities.
Here are some questions and responses which illustrate the difference.
Are
there nurses at Pinebrook?
We
maintain a group of professional nurses on the floor to assure high
quality medical supervision. All our staff are trained in geriatric
care, geriatric medical supervision, and in psychology of aging.
Can
I keep my own physician? Is there a Medical Director?
Residents
may maintain a relationship with their own doctor and/or Pinebrook's
medical director. Our Medical Director is a board certified internist
who may assist residents who, for any reason, cannot maintain a relationship
with their doctor.
Does
Pinebrook have Physical Therapy?
Often
residents come to us with a need for a structured physical rehabilitation
program, including physical or occupational therapy. Pinebrook has a
fully equipped and professionally staffed physical therapy unit for
residents with physical and occupational needs.
What
kind of accomodations are at Pinebrook?
Pinebrook's main residential area features semi-private, private,
and deluxe private rooms, in addition to multi room suites. All rooms
have private full bath. Pinebrook's sun-filled main dining room overlooks
a beautiful pond and tall trees. For that special occasion, Pinebrook's
elegant private dining room for family and friends gives a party just
the right touch.
What
are Pinebrook's visiting hours?
We
don't set any particular blocks of time for visiting at Pinebrook-you're
welcome anytime. And if you have never seen Pinebrook, just stop in.
You don't need an appointment.
If my
Mom or Dad are put on a special diet by their doctor, does Pinebrook
follow those orders strictly?
All
diets ordered by a resident's physician are carried out as directed
so that the resident can experience the maximum benefits that the diet
provides. If the resident finds the diet too burdensome, a talk with
the doctor often results in some modifications.
Can
I take my own medicaitons?
Pennsylvania
regulations allow a resident to keep their own medications. We however
discourage self medication. Our nurses and staff are trained to evaluate
a resident's condition when medications are given. By being assured
as to when a medication is taken (our nurses record the dispensing time)
we then are in a better position to follow the health of the resident.
However, a Resident may self medicate if they desire.
